\n\nJob Description\n

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, while operating within the scope of their professional license with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans, explaining the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment. The therapist is responsible for providing necessary education to patients during discharge.

\n\nResponsibilities\n

\n
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
\n
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance.
\n
• Execute suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
\n
• Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy.
\n
• Review patient's chest x-rays and determine needs for further evaluation.
\n
• Conduct 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
\n
• Assist with procedures relating to respiratory care.
\n
• Care for tracheostomy, including tube insertion and removal.
\n
• Perform arterial puncture and ventilation efficiency assessments.
\n
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.
\n
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation on various equipment.
\n
• Document treatments and communicate updates to physicians.
\n
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry.
\n

\n\nRequired Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n

Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist and appropriate certifications per state requirements are mandatory for this position.
