Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for an acute Emergency Department in California requiring a CA RN license and a minimum of 2 years ER experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in a 24+ bed Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting
• Cares for a mixed population of adult and pediatric patients, averaging 150 ER patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 with charge nurse and PCT support
• Uses Cerner FirstNet EMR system and Phillips telemetry monitors; experience with Cerner is required
• Ventilator and moderate conscious sedation procedures performed; comp testing for sedation required prior to start
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with every other weekend required
• No floating required
• Block scheduling is not available
• Care for a high-acuity population, including short-term psych holds and a significant homeless population
• Patients requiring higher levels of care are transferred to a regional center
• Acute, fast-paced environment with a mix of adult and pediatric emergencies
• Navy scrubs required
• Hospitalist, intensivist, RT, and pharmacy are available 24/7; no in-house IV team
• Orientation is provided with two unit-specific shifts
• Must work into perm staff holiday rotation
• Returning candidates must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health within the past year

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Moderate conscious sedation competency testing must be passed prior to start
• Prior experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Driver’s license copy required for consideration
• Two references are required: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
