Job Description

Position Summary:

Seeking a qualified Structural Steel Inspector (CWI/ICC) to perform daily inspections of construction projects to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with building codes, project specifications, and construction drawings. The role involves material and weld inspection, NDE and field testing, report preparation, and communication with project stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct on-site testing, observation, and inspection in accordance with training and procedural standards.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately.
• Document all findings, observations, and test results clearly and thoroughly.
• Perform preliminary analysis of collected data before submitting to the Project Manager.
• Communicate findings to the Project Manager or designated personnel.
• Draft detailed inspection reports for review by senior inspectors or project managers.
• Support senior inspectors as needed on complex or large-scale projects.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment as required.
• Execute pre-task planning and strictly follow safety procedures on all assignments.
• Take ownership of maintaining quality standards on every assigned project.
• Promptly report any safety issues or incidents to management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as an NDT Inspector or in a similar construction inspection role.
• Experience in steel bolting and welding inspections strongly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Certifications:

Required:

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI-D1.1)
• ICC Certification – Structural Steel (Bolting) or ability to obtain within 4 to 8 weeks

Preferred (not required):

• ICC Certification – Structural Steel (Welding)
• ASNT Level II Certifications in any of the following:
• Visual Testing (VT)
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
• Radiographic Testing (RT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Other relevant national, regional, or state inspection certifications
