Job Description

Meet, greet and welcome customers of WVU Medicine while manning the shuttles. The shuttle drivers must have great customer service and driving skills when operating the shuttles. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Driver’s License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or Equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Three years driving experience driving a multiple passenger vehicle is preferred. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must arrive to assigned area to prepare shuttle for the days run. Checking fluid and operation of the shuttle prior to loading the first passenger of the day. Must arrive on time and wearing proper uniform issued to you. Must follow all traffic laws, posted speed limits and signals. Report all accidents / incidents immediately to your supervisor. If problematic situations arise, you are to contact your supervisor immediately. At all times follow the designated route and follow the guidelines when loading / unloading passengers. All shuttles are to be maintained inside and out during non-peak hours by the individual drivers of the shuttle. If the Shuttle develops mechanical issues, document the problem and notify your supervisor immediately. No Cell Phone usage while Shuttle is operating per the law and policy. Breaks are to be taken on non-peak times. Communication between drivers upon leaving or arriving at a destination is required via radio. Documentation of passengers is to be updated at all destinations. Any suspicious activity is to be reported to the Security Dispatcher immediately. Any vehicle assist with other motorist or employees are to be reported to Security Dispatcher immediately. Must know how to operate wheelchair lift on handicap equipped Shuttles. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly required to talk or hear to communicate with passengers. Continuous sitting within the shuttles from parking lot areas is required. Safe patient handling to 35 pounds using lift equipment and/or other patient handling aids. Evaluation by Occupational Medicine required upon hire or transfer to ensure medical fitness. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Employee may be exposed to all types of weather and traffic conditions. Must complete vision screening test for near and far vision, must screen 20/40 or better or be referred to the Eye Center. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to operate all types of automobiles and light trucks, both standard and automatic transmissions. Ability to drive a 15 passenger Shuttle. Having great customer and people skills is preferred.
