Job Purpose

Sewing Machine Operators at Martin-Baker America (MBAI) are responsible for operating sewing machines, and other sewing equipment including, single needle, double needle, over lock, Adler, post, CNC auto tracker, auto webbing feeder and auto Velcro feeder and other various machines to join and/or reinforce fabric, Velcro, webbing, and other material used in manufacturing of production assemblies.

Main Duties of a Sewing Machine Operator

• Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints, drawings, flowcharts, and build plans.
• Possess flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks independently in an organized manner.
• Acquire potential skills necessary to operate all sewing related machines including, single needle, double needle, over lock, Adler, post, CNC auto tracker, auto webbing feeder and auto Velcro feeder efficiently and effectively.
• Always adheres to applicable operating procedures and work instructions.
• Must be self-motivated.

Experience/Education needed to be a Sewing Machine Operator

• Must be detail oriented and have a high attention to detail.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination.
• Must have the ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy.
• Must be able to measure and work to tolerance of +/- 1/16th of an inch. Can use ruler to do this but ability to visually recognize a difference is important.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful candidate(s) will be asked to complete Background and Drug/Alcohol Screenings.
