Description We are recruiting a Full-Time Infusion Pharmacy Technician. This position will be scheduled for regular hours Monday through Friday at our Long-Term Care Pharmacy in Salisbury, NC; our pharmacy is not open to the public.
This position requires a high level of responsibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Technician certification is preferred but not required.This pharmacy has a professional and creative work environment with a positive team atmosphere. It offers a competitive salary, $18-25 per hour based on experience and credentials, and a benefits package.
Duties :
- Preparing sterile medications using aseptic technique.
- Infusion therapy inventory and supply management.
- Maintaining accurate documentation.
- Unit-dose medication preparation in other areas in the pharmacy when neededand other daily pharmacy technician tasks as needed.
Experience :
- Compounding sterile medications in a clean room is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of USP 797 standards.
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred.
Qualifications Neil Medical Group Pharmacy Services Division Pharmacy Technician - Sterile Compounding Position Summary: The primary responsibility for this position is performing sterile infusion compounding. Based on daily infusion therapy volume and workload it may include all functions of a pharmacy technician including packaging medications, restocking shelves, checking pharmaceutical expiration dates, maintaining appropriate inventory, and non-sterile compounding. This position also includes managing infusion medication and supply inventory. One is expected to maintain his/her competency in sterile compounding.
Position Relationships: - Must exhibit teamwork and work well with other pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.
- Reports to Pharmacy Technician Supervisor or Pharmacy Operations Manager.
Requirements: Required:
- Prepare sterile infusion medications using aseptic technique
- The employee must be able to multi-task, work independently, complete basic calculations, and think critically.
- Must be registered with State Board of Pharmacy (as required)
Preferred but not required:
- Compounding sterile medications in a cleanroom
- Pharmacy certification (PTCB)
- Sterile compounding pharmacy certification
Position Competencies: - Maintain cleaning of the cleanroom and logging USP 797 required data values
- Unload totes and sort medications from totes
- Restock shelves and communicate stock problems to appropriate personnel
- Maintain workstation and pharmacy shelves in a clean, neat and orderly fashion
- Properly package and dispense medications according to specific facility requirements, including storage requirements and expiration dates
- Prepare unit-dose medications as needed
- Inventory stock levels of medications in the dispensing area and monitor for expiration dates
- Clean the workstation at the end of the day, remove trash, and turn off all equipment at work
- Complete cycle counts as assigned to ensure an appropriate inventory of non-sterile and sterile medications and supplies is on hand.
- Assist in "scanning" medications in delivery totes and ensure all medications are accounted for
- Assist other departments in pharmacy as needed (i.e., NDC changes, scanning delivery sheets, returned RTS sheets, etc.)
- Maintain competency in sterile compounding as required by USP 797 and other regulatory agencies.
- Prepare sterile compounds using proper aseptic technique
- Maintain sterile compounding area and cleanroom in compliance with USP 797 standards.
- Complete daily compounding assignments and checklists
- Clean all areas of sterile compounding area daily and participate in monthly cleaning
- Report any deviation in practice or function of the sterile compounding area to your supervisor
- Train new pharmacy technicians as needed
- File daily/weekly paperwork
- Other duties as assigned
