Base pay range

$170,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr

A well-established real estate investment firm based in Santa Ana is seeking an In-House General Counsel to join its executive team. Specializing in the ownership and management of both commercial and multifamily assets, the company values professionalism, structure, and long-term commitment. This role is ideal for a sharp, business-minded attorney with 4–8 years of combined transactional and litigation experience, looking to expand into broader operations and leadership. The position offers exposure to high-level business strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to work in a stable, close-knit environment with low turnover.

Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000 / year DOE

In-House General Counsel Responsibilities

• Review and draft leases, purchase agreements, and sale contracts
• Manage litigation matters including general liability, trip/fall, and nuisance cases
• Oversee and advise on HR-related legal issues, onboarding, and labor compliance
• Handle and resolve workers' compensation claims and insurance matters
• Collaborate with insurance carriers to manage property and health insurance policies
• Serve as a key member of the executive management team
• Lead internal legal processes and support day-to-day business operations

In-House General Counsel Requirements

• JD from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law school
• Active California State Bar license
• 4–8 years of legal experience, including both transactional and general business litigation
• Experience in real estate law strongly preferred (commercial or residential)
• Excellent organizational and case management skills
• Strong communication, flexibility, and professionalism
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a traditional, structured environment
