PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Executive Director is responsible for raising funds to ensure the continuance and expansion of the program. The Executive Director oversees the operation of all functions of the Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Fundraising
1. Develop an overall fundraising plan to include a comprehensive capital campaign, annual giving, special projects, and estate planning campaign.
2. Ensure the annual budget is funded and the organization has adequate cash flow
Leadership
3. Ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the Club and community.
4. Implement programs, services, and activities that support youth development outcomes
5. Establish and monitor adherence to policies and procedures
6. Keep the Board of Directors informed of financial performance and issues impacting the organization monthly and as needed.
Strategic Planning
7. Implement a strategic planning process that results in the development and implementation of a quality strategic plan.
8. Identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement and implement plans for improvement.
9. Implement administrative and operational systems to support effective operations.
10. Ensure productive and effective staff performance, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
Marketing and Public Relations
11. Increase visibility of Club programs, services, and activities and maintain good public relations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be assigned special projects periodically by the Board of Directors.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, at a minimum.
• Proven fundraising experience. CFRE preferred.
• A minimum of three years of experience as an ED, CEO, or COO in a nonprofit organization.
• Thorough knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations; and resource development activities and sources of funding.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations.
• Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, and decision making.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
• Extensive knowledge of asset management, including financial resources and property.
