Position Description: Addiction Medicine Physician
The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics seeks a board-certified psychiatrist, also certified or eligible in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, or in Addiction Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, to join our faculty and the UI Addiction and Recovery Collaborative (UI ARC). The appointment is on a non-tenure clinical track, open rank.
Responsibilities include patient care on the Addiction Medicine Consult Service and in the Addiction Medicine Clinic, supervision of residents and medical students, with a 1.0 FTE split into 50% clinical work, 30% education and outreach for UI ARC, and 20% scholarly activities including research and teaching.
UI ARC offers comprehensive services including outpatient programs, Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT) clinics, emergency department buprenorphine initiation, case management, peer support, counseling, group therapy, and community outreach. It collaborates with the Iowa Neuroscience Institute on addiction research across molecular biology, genetics, brain imaging, and clinical trials.

Education Requirement: MD or DO, completed psychiatry residency
Required Qualifications: Commitment to patient care, teaching, scholarly work; experience in teaching and scholarly activity; excellent communication skills
Certifications: Board certified in Psychiatry; board certified or eligible in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry
Desirable Qualifications: Experience on an addiction consult service; harm reduction strategies; promoting inclusivity; multidisciplinary teamwork; ability to operate a university vehicle
