Your Role: Art Teacher

As an Art Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the creative experiences of our students. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure you are highly qualified and certified, holding a bachelor’s degree and state certification to teach in public schools.
  • Be present and engaged from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM , Monday through Friday, throughout the school year.
  • Provide supervision during class, breaks, meals, and transitions to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Participate in school events outside normal hours, such as family nights, student performances, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Research, design, and document art standards and curricula for students in grades K-4/5-8.
  • Teach Art to all students Monday through Thursday and lead after-school enrichment programs as needed.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Art program, including working with outside providers and maintaining records.
  • Assist in purchasing and maintaining art equipment.
  • Provide orientation on the art program during summer training for all staff.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate academic instruction into Art lessons.
  • Engage families in their children’s education through art concerts and community events.
  • Participate actively in department and faculty meetings.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating accountability for student mastery of academic standards.
  • Manage curricular materials on the school server for easy access by current and future teachers.
  • Meet regularly with the Principal to review results and plan future actions.

  • Required Experience:
    • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools is preferred.
    • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Certification is not mandatory at hiring, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation

Compensation for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 , based on factors such as relevant teaching experience and educational certifications. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $50,000.
