The Central Ohio VA in Columbus Ohio is seeking a full time Addiction Psychiatrist!
The Addiction Psychiatrist serves as the psychiatry subject matter expert in all the programs within recovery services.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
• Performs substance use disorder and psychiatric evaluations for Veterans being treated in Recovery Services.
• Performs inductions onto suboxone for assigned Veterans with a diagnosis of Opioid Use Disorder, severe. Also provides for time unlimited services for those Veterans being treated with Suboxone.
• Evaluates and treats using Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for all substance use disorders.
• Ensures practice of addiction and psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
• Participates effectively in weekly team meetings (Recovery Services and Suboxone) as well as informal treatment planning conferences. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
• Orders diagnostic tests and consultations related to both addiction and psychiatric issues and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
• May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.
