LaSalle Network is partnering with a well-established nonprofit organization in Chicago’s River North to find their next Accounts Payable Manager ! If you’re passionate about process improvements, team leadership, and making an operational impact, this contract-to-hire role is built for you. This position offers hybrid flexibility—three days onsite and two remote—after initial training. We’re looking for a strong communicator and hands-on leader ready to hit the ground running and drive results.
Accounts Payable Manager Responsibilities:
Oversee daily AP operations, including invoice approvals, payments, vendor relations, and expense reports
Supervise and coach a team of AP specialists, driving performance and development
Set priorities, allocate workload, and ensure deadlines are consistently met
Partner across departments to resolve payment issues and streamline processes
Serve as a key resource for vendor and internal inquiries
Manage monthly close activities, reconciliations, and support year-end audits
Coordinate vendor tax reporting (1099, 1042, and 945 forms)
Troubleshoot and optimize AP systems in collaboration with IT and vendors
Lead training sessions on AP procedures and policies for broader staff
Accounts Payable Manager Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required; bachelor’s preferred
5+ years of AP or financial operations experience, with 5+ years supervising teams
Strong knowledge of IRS 1099 compliance
Expertise juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
ERP systems experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred
Advanced Excel skills and financial reporting acumen
Strong communicator with a knack for coaching and critical thinking
